Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar National Research Fellowship (BANRF)

In 1913, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar undertook a historic journey to Columbia University, New York for Higher Studies. In grateful commemoration of this, BARTI launched “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar National Research Fellowship (BANRF)” in 2013. Only Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates belonging to Maharashtra, who wish to pursue regular and fulltime Ph.D. in any subject from Indian Universities / Institutions / Colleges as indicated below are liable to get fellowship.

In the year 2014 on the completion of 101 years of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar undertook a historic journey to Columbia University, In grateful commemoration of this 101 students were given fellowship. For the BANRF year 2019 and 2020, in covid situation the number of fellowships has been increased up to 200. At present as per 30th October 2023 GR & 25th July 2024 GR total number of beneficiaries are 300.

From the year 2012 to BANRF-2022 for M. Phil and Ph.D., a total of 3103 students got benefits under Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar National Research Fellowship (BANRF).

Achievement

Those who have completed their M.Phil/Ph.D academic tenure, out of it total, 771 students completed their research. Total 7 students received patents. Students who have benefited from BANRF Fellowship are making significant contributions to the country through research in various fields.
